Tiffany Dnaka: Watercolor pet portraits and keepsakes; $1.2K a month; born from losing her dog

Tiffany Dnaka sells made-to-order custom watercolor pet portraits and printed keepsakes to dog, cat, horse and rabbit owners, with founder-reported sales of $1.2K a month as of 2023-04 in a Starter Story founder interview dated 2023-04-03.

What it sells and how it charges

The official website describes the portraits as made in Orange County, California. Its ordering process uses a customer photo and provides a proof in 48 hours, according to the site as checked on 2026-10-01.

That same official-site listing, checked on 2026-10-01, prices watercolor portraits from $89.00 for 8.5x11in up to $209.00 for 18x24in. Keepsakes range from $30.00 to $90.00. Prices are in USD, and the site lists free standard U.S. shipping.

The keepsakes include mugs, ornaments, keychains, planters, napkins, cards and apparel. The intended customers are pet owners buying personalized artwork of their animals, including memorial gifts.

How it started

Tiffany’s official About page says the artwork began as a way to cope with the loss of her dog, Moxey, when she could not find the portrait style she wanted.

In the founder interview dated 2023-04-03, Tiffany said she soft-launched the custom artwork on Etsy during Covid in 2020. She treated it as a hobby and had no formal art training.

After losing her job in 2021, she turned the hobby into a full-time business and launched her own website. She later moved away from Etsy because of its fees, missing customer records and photo-upload limits, then rebuilt the store using Wix as its host.

She subsequently widened the product line with drop-shipped clothing, ceramic keepsakes and keychains.

The numbers

The founder interview dated 2023-04-03 records founder-reported sales of $1.2K a month as of 2023-04. This is a historical sales figure and should not be read as a statement of current income.

In that same interview, Tiffany calls the operation a “one-gal show”; this first-person statement is the evidence for classifying Tiffany Dnaka as a one-person company. No start-up cost is stated on the official website or in the founder interview.

What stands out

  • The catalogue extends beyond commissioned watercolor portraits to printed keepsakes, ceramics and a drop-shipped clothing range.
  • Etsy fees, missing customer records and photo-upload limits were the stated reasons for moving to a Wix-hosted store.
  • The founder attributes most growth to time and effort spent building a personal Instagram following, while paid advertising failed because of budget.
