Reading pages

The site runs on Cloudflare. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies. When you click an “Ask the Keeper” button, we record the page and which button was clicked, with no personal details, so we know which pages lead to questions.

Using the chat

Messages you type in the chat are sent to our chat service to generate an answer and are stored so we can improve answers and fix mistakes. Please do not share personal or financial details you would not want stored.

Submitting a business

When you submit a business we store the form fields you fill in, your contact (one email or handle), the time, and a one-way hash of your network address used only to limit spam. The contact is used to check details and, if a suitable opportunity comes up, to introduce you; it is never published. Before a species page goes live, a person removes personal details from the text. If a submission is not published we delete the contact. To ask about or delete what you submitted, say so in the chat or through the submit page and mention the business name.

Partner links

If you follow a partner link, the partner's own privacy policy applies on their site. Our link service records the click and the page it came from.
